Await Changes to Be Made Because of Recent Accidents
SANTA MONICA, Calif., Nov. 29—(AP)—President Truman's personal plane, the Independence, a DC-6, was at the Douglas Aircraft plant here today awaiting any changes which may be recommended for all planes of this type because of the recent Bryce Canyon, Utah, and Gallup, N. M., mishaps involving DC-6s.
The President's pilot, Lt. Col. Henry Myers, brought the plane here yesterday. Myers plans to return to Washington today to take the President to Florida in the Sacred Cow, a DC-4, for a short vacation.
The Civil Aeronautics Board is studying the DC-6 problem and may make recommendations for changes.
