EXETER, Aug. 28.—The examination of the students at Phillips Exeter Academy took place on Wednesday last. The result was truly gratifying to the Trustees and other literary friends of the Institution who were present, and fully sustained the high character which has long since been attached to this useful seminary throughout the United States.

The annual Exhibition took place on the following day. The Hall was crowded with spectators, many of whom were strangers, friends of the students residing at a distance, and all professed themselves to be highly pleased with the exercises.—The performances were principally original, and several of them of a superior order of composition, reflecting much credit on the students and their instructors.

At the close of the term, the number of students was seventy-five, about twenty of whom left the Academy to enter College. The order of exercises were as follows:
