Full Text

A correspondent believes the fact to be too well known to justify him again in repeating it, that the Spaniards have by right no claim of authority over the inhabitants of the Mosquito country; the ancestors of the present inhabitants fled from the murderous sword of the Spaniards under the command of Ferdinando Cortez in 1521, whose savage heart beat with infernal pleasure when he was surrounded by the slaughtered bodies of thousands of innocent men, and made the Mosquito country their asylum, from whence by the aid of Heaven, their posterity have defied all the malicious efforts of Spain to extirpate them.
