Reported Mutiny at Newbern, N. C.—The
Raleigh State Journal learns from a source
perfectly reliable that a mutiny broke out amongst
the Abolitionists at Newbern, at the close of the week
before last. Five hundred soldiers threw down
their arms, swearing that they were Democrats
and would fight no longer under the Abolitionist's
flag. Some of them were captured, but about five
hundred of them made their escape. The excitement
is represented as intense. The traitor Stanly
fled to a gun-boat. The immediate cause of the
mutiny was the reported advance on Newbern of
Generals Jackson and Evans with a heavy force.
