"Butcher Bill, Good-Bye,"
(C. W. Wood).
Proud Kaiser Bill, you've reigned as king,
For lo these many years;
You've ruled with your despotic power
In spite of women's tears:
You've robbed the poor and helpless.
And made young children cry-
It's time for you to abdicate.
Bill. "Butcher Bill," Good-bye.
Young men you've taken in their prime
And made of them your tools:
You've taken men of mighty brains,
To teach war in your schools:
You laugh at pain and sorrow.
Care not when strong men die-
This world has had enough of you.
Bill, "Bloody Bill." Good-bye.
You've caused more woe and suffering
Than pestilence and flood:
The price you've asked for what you've done
Has all been paid in blood;
But Uncle Sam was listening,
He heard the cries of woe
From helpless. stricken peoples-
And now. proud Hun. you'll go.
And when you're gone. this world of ours
Will take new life again,
And joy and peace will come and stay,
Where once were woe and pain;
So speed your going. "Butcher Bill,"
And from this old world fly---
Your time has come, your doom is sealed,
Vile "Butcher Bill." Good-bye.
But. Kaiser Bill. where can you flee?
To heaven you can not go;
You've shamed the imps of Satan,
They'll not take you below;
And as you haven't any soul.
Crawl off somewhere and die,
And leave a world you've almost wrecked,
Bill. "Viper Bill." Good-bye.
