On the Death of the Right Hon. Norborne Baron De Botetourt &c. who departed this Life, October 15th Anno Domini 1770. A faithful Confidant, and a true and loyal Friend to King and Country.

Grateful Virginia may
Bles that auspicious Day
Botetourt came;
He did defend our Laws,
And gave our Country Cause
To sing with loud Applause,
Botetourt's Fame.

II.
Religion and Learning were
His first and greatest Care,
He their Support;
Botetourt stood:
Let others Example take,
May his Successors be
And him their Pattern make,
As good and great as he,
For their and our Sake,
And join in Loyalty,
Business their Sport.
The publick Good.
