STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT TO ERECT NEW SIGNS
IN EFFORT TO LESSEN ACCIDENTS ALONG
NO.86

New signs, expected to result in a reduction of accidents on State Highway 86 as it passes through the main reservation, are to be erected soon, according to statements made at a meeting of state highway personnel with Tribal Chairman Enos J. Francisco and Administrative Assistant Edward J. Sullivan.

"Village" signs are to be erected at the approaches to Sells, Covered Wells, and San Simon. Intersection markers were to be placed at three sites near Sells, and signs referring to pedestrian and cattle crossing will be placed as found needed.

A check of traffic shows that the average speed of cars on the highway is 62 miles per hour.
