WHISKEY CRACKDOWN STAGED IN ATLANTA AREA

Federal, state and local law enforcement agents apparently cracked down on the illegal whiskey traffic Sunday and Monday morning as they arrested four men and confiscated approximately 200 gallons of the untaxed liquor during several raids, according to police reports.

The biggest haul came Sunday night as federal, state and city agents cooperated to trap William Robinson, 37, 1659 Hardee Circle, N.E., as police said he attempted to unload 90 gallons of the illegal brew from a truck in his back yard.

The agents said they moved in on Robinson and arrested him on charges of violating the state liquor control act and placed him in the DeKalb County Jail under a $1,000 bond.

Prior to their raid on Robinson, the state and city agents reported they searched a car Sunday afternoon allegedly belonging to George Sturdivant, 807 Byrd, S.W., in front of an Ira Street address.

Sturdivant left the car and ran away as they approached, the agents said, but was caught 30 minutes later on Rockwell Street after he had changed clothes.

Sturdivant is being held in the Fulton County Jail under a $1,000 bond.

Mitchell's case was set to come before city court Monday at 3:30 p.m., where he will face charges of disorderly conduct—whiskey, police said.

Henry Elliott, 45, 135 Gray Street, N.W. (rear), was reportedly awakened from a deep sleep by city police who said they arrested him after they found about 9½ pints of illegal whiskey in his house, most of it near his bedside and almost
