Full Text
The senate made thorough work of executive business yesterday afternoon, and disposed of all pending nominations, leaving nothing before any of its committees. Among senators and members there is a strong disposition, in spite of the house resolution already adopted, to adjourn on Saturday, if possible, for the regular holiday recess; and in the event that Speaker Carlisle shall announce his committees on that day there is no doubt that a resolution to that effect will be promptly passed in both houses.
