Former Mayor Rufus O. Walling Notified of His Appointment.

KEYPORT, Sept. 5—Former Mayor Rufus O. Walling was advised on Tuesday that his nomination as postmaster of the borough had been sent to the senate. Since the death of George E. Langan, H. W. Birkbeck has been the acting postmaster. Mr. Walling received word several months ago that his name headed the list of eligibles, having passed the highest examination held for the position. It is now expected that he will soon receive the appointment.
