Full Text
A BARBARY COAST SCRIMMAGE. - A couple of low-toned demi monde got into an altercation in a Barbary Coast ginmery last night, and after exhausting the slang vocabulary, went for each other like a couple of Thomas cats, and but for the opportune appearance of officer McKee upon the scene the chances are that the least muscular one of the pair would, in a few moments, have been "made up" for the representation of Mother Eve prior to the introduction of the fig leaf business, as her opponent was shucking her about as fast as a Missourian would an ear of corn. The stalwart officer, however, soon brought about a cessation of hostilities, and spared the blushes of the spectators, by arresting both of the belligerents, and the probabilities are that the sequel of the affair will come off in the Police Court this morning.
