SKIES BRIGHT AND BRIGHTENING.

OHIO. - Extract of a letter from one of the most distinguished men in the West, who has just traversed a large portion of the state,

Sep't. 6. We shall carry Ohio as certain as the election comes. - The triumph of Governor Shannon and Col. Allen in public discussions is signal and great. If Democracy should be defeated in this contest, it will be the first open and fair contest in our country in which it has ever been defeated, by the votaries of Aristocratical principles and of a high-toned Government. My confidence is however without a doubt, that general result will be favorable to Mr. Van Buren. Col. Richard M. Johnson leaves home again on the 19th inst. for Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, and Illinois, and hopes to reach home by the 30th October. He will probably remain in Ohio up to the 13th, when the election takes place for Governor," &c., &c. - Rich. Enquirer.
