CHARLESTOWN, August 18. CAPTAIN Conyers, who arrived this day from St. Christopher's, informs us, that a most extraordinary swell set in there from the south on the 31st of July last; that, though attended with but little wind, it was so very violent as to oblige 29 vessels, lying in Basseterre road, to put out to sea. Four vessels were lost, three of which were from North America. Capt. Conyers adds, that they were in daily expectation of hearing of great damage done in Guadaloupe, Dominica, Martinico, &c.
