Lines Written on the Death of Little Charlie.

BY E. L. M.

Thy little form has gone to rest,
And is free from every care,
God called His lovely one to bless
In a better world afar.
We loved thee; ah! too fondly
To lay thee in the grave,
And we wept that one so lovely
No earthly power could save.
But we would not, though we mourn thee,
Call thee from that radiant shore,
Hoping rapturously to greet thee,
When these parting scenes are o'er.
There to dwell with angels ever,
And be guided by God's hand,
In a land where naught can sever
Ties that bind the Christian band.
