Full Text

We have got a president for Harvard college at last. The Christian Register thus describes him:

'A gentleman of kind heart, courteous and dignified in manners, affable and respectful to all who approach him; a scholar, a man of taste, well versed in the literature of ancient and modern times; well informed on scientific subjects; a man of strict integrity, one conscientious in his private dealings and in the management of all trusts committed to him; religious in the broadest sense of the word: a man of enlarged and generous views, of executive ability, acquainted with human nature, old enough not to be rash and not too old to be interested in the advance of the times; prudent, at the same time progressive.'

But the Register forgot to tell us his name.
