FEDERALISTS MEET AND PLAN PROGRAM

Members of the Champaign-Urbana chapter of United World Federalists met Monday evening at the home of Prof. and Mrs. Arthur W. Clevenger, 702 S. Lynn, Champaign. Officers elected for the coming year are Mac Swengel, Champaign, as chairman, and Mrs. Lucille Finn, Urbana, as secretary-treasurer.

The program adopted for the coming months consists of continued presentation of the popular skit, "Uncle Sam Sees the Doctor," which has been given to over 15 local groups in the past months. For persons interested in further discussion of the federalist proposal for a strengthened United Nations, the UWF chapter will sponsor informal home meetings on a different night each week so as to accommodate people with full schedules.

In order to give the public an opportunity to hear both sides of the issue, UWF is planning to sponsor a public debate in March. They will also support the all-day peace seminar sponsored by the local Peace Council Feb. 16, and the "model" United Nations sessions planned by the University Y's early next semester.

It was reported that the Illinois UWF membership has increased over last year's membership, and that the Local chapter had increased membership 60 per cent.

Robert W. Jackson, chairman of the University of Illinois Student Chapter, reported on last semester's activities, which included 5 meetings devoted to reports on Asiatic countries by students from that area. This series will continue next semester, but will center on European countries.
