Full Text
The editor of the National Intelligencer pays his friends in the state of New-York a very great compliment when he tells them that possible some of them may be bought by the Federalists; and when he warns the people to watch their representatives narrowly, for fear they should sell themselves.—W. Fed.
The Intelligencer man need not be frightened for fear the federalists will buy some of the democrats in the New-York legislature—The Federalists do not take the same method to carry their points as the friends of Bonaparte do; they are not in the habit of buying votes. ibid.
Mr. Smith thinks all jacobins are alike, and because Bonaparte has purchased some of the best of them, he judges that the federalists may buy the rest. We have a better opinion of the members of the legislature of the state of New-York than to suppose any of them are for sale, but if there are such beings certainly they are not worth buying.—ibid.
