Ketchikan Freight Boat Lost In Puget Sound

SEATTLE. (AP) - The small Ketchikan freight boat, Valentine, capsized in heavy weather off Whidbey Island in Puget Sound Saturday but the three men aboard escaped safely to shore in a skiff as a Coast Guard helicopter hovered nearby.

They were John Ristovich, master. Martin. Parsons and Robert Edenshaw, all of Ketchikan.

They reported to the Coast Guard the Valentine's load of shingles shifted, causing it to upset. Later it broke up in the surf near where they landed on Camano beach. It was headed for Ketchikan.
