The Examiner has been requested by Dwight H. Teter, Publicity Director of the Kiwanis Good Roads Committee to publish the following communication:
"A certain farm journal, published outside of West Virginia, and with a large circulation in this state, is reported to have made the statement that 50 per cent of the $50,000,000 road bond issue was spent in road construction and the other fifty per cent for office expense and engineering.
"It is well that the people of West Virginia know the facts about this.
"On December 31, 1926, the present Road Commission had spent or had under contract for construction of roads in West Virginia, the sum of $52,720,522.58, the amount over $50,000,000 being Federal Aid. Of this sum $2,939,218.20 or 5.57 per cent was spent for engineering and was divided as follows:

$28,960.37-Engineering Contingencies
$1,759,548.58-Engineering Supervision
$228,357.32-Final Surveys.
$28,351.41-Division Engineering Overhead.
$13,837.94-Right of Way Surveys.
$546,671.08-Preliminary Surveys.
$294,648.46-Plans.
$18,527.93-Advertising, chargeable to Engineering.
"No part of the $50,000,000 bond issue or of federal aid was spent for office expense. Administration office expenses in accordance with the state road law, is paid out of funds collected from the tax on gasoline and the automobile license tax."
