A paper before us gleans some interesting statistics from the "American Baptist Register for 1852," an 8vo of 49 pages. The Register contains accounts of the Calvinistic Baptist denomination in this country particularly, given State by State, churches, ministers, institutions, educational and missionary Societies.— Also, statistics of that denomination in other parts of the world. Then follows an account of the Free-will Baptists, and all other Baptists whatsoever. And then is given one "Grand Summary of Baptized Professed Christians in the World," as follows:—Churches in North America, 16,709, ministers 13,144, members 1,237,621; Europe, 2,053 churches, 1,700 ministers, 196,824 members; Asia, 170 ministers, 380 churches, 12,297 members; Africa, 26 ministers, 22 churches, 1,242 members. Total in the world, 18,958 ministers, 15,176 churches, 1,447,984 members. It will be recollected that beside this one and a half million of baptized Christians as the representation of the "baptist" idea of the gospel, there are some thousands of members in the Methodist, Congregational, and other denominations, who could only be satisfied with baptism by immersion for themselves, though they are connected with Pedo-baptist churches. Let us contend earnestly, yet kindly and in love, for the faith once delivered unto the saints.—P. S. B.
