We are in receipt of some more demands from the lordly newspaper directories, threatening to put a "k" opposite our name as indicative of the circulation of the Press and Banner, if we do not do as they demand.

As we are perfectly indifferent as to whether they give truthful or untruthful reports of us, they can put us down at zero, if they prefer to do so. Newspapers that rely on patent medicine advertisements may feel warranted in sending in their "statements," and ten dollars for sixty words of, an advertisement in a paper that has done more to ruin the foreign advertising business than anything else. but we will neither send statements or swear to an itemized "statement."

The circulation of this newspaper is no secret, and everybody may learn exactly what it is by simply asking.

But those gentlemen who ask for the information, and then expect us to run off in search of an officer, before whom to make oath to the same, will be disappointed, though we have no idea they will lose any sleep on that account.

The business men of the country will soon learn if the directory is truthful, which we believe it is not. This opinion is based on a report which a traveling man said was given of our paper in a directory, and which is fortified by the threat on their own part to lower our rating, if we do not do as they demand.
