The county of York, has produced more instances of longevity than any other county in England. The cause is attributed to the salubrity of the air and sobriety of the inhabitants. From the year 1749 to the present period, persons have died in the county whose ages were as follow:
Females—Of 100 years, 2; of 101, 1; of 102, 4; of 103, 3; of 104, 1; of 105, 2; of 106, 3; of 107, 3; of 108, 1; of 109, 2; of 111, 1; of 114, 2; of 125, 1.
Males—Of 100 years, 6; of 102, 4; of 103, 4; of 104, 8; of 105, 2; of 107, 1; of 108, 1; of 109, 3; of 111, 1; of 112, 1; of 115, 2; of 117, 1; of 125, 1; of 127, 1; of 138, 1; of 150, 1; of 169, 1.
* He had been married five times, left 7 children, and 140 great great grand children. He was very temperate, and occasionally would eat a fresh laid egg.
