Friday last came Advice, from Shamokin, an Indian Place in the back Part of the Country, that some Warriors of the Five Nations, who had been out against the Southern Indians, passed by that Place a few Days before in their Return home; and informed them, that as they came up the River Ohio they found the Shawnee Nation (those that robbed our Traders) entrenching and fortifying themselves, being under Fear of the Five Nations, who they apprehended were coming to cut them off. That 12 Miles higher they met 400 Warriors of those Nations, going towards the Shawnee, with a Resolution to destroy them, believing that they intended to revolt to the Catawbas, their Enemies.
