NEW-YORK, JULY 11.

Progress of Improvements.—A ship of about 375 tons is now nearly ready to be launched, from one of our ship yards, which is actually to be fitted up with a steam engine and apparatus, as a Steam Packet ship for crossing the Atlantic.

We learn that the Grand Canal is in rapid advancement from the Mohawk to the Salina; and contracts from thence to Seneca river are nearly completed. It is stated that upwards of 2000 men are employed on the works the present season, besides cattle and labor-saving machinery.
