A Just Compliment to Whig Policy.
The New Orleans Bee thus comments on the State of the finances in Massachusetts, as shown by the Message of Gov. Briggs:

"Massachusetts is one of the very few States blest with the advantage of Whig policy fairly carried out, year after year. It is substantially out of debt, for it can take gold for its railroad at par any day. Its agriculture, manufactures, commerce, common schools and internal improvements all alike flourish. The fruits of Whig policy attest the excellence of the tree which bears them."
