Apples, Pears and Peaches. East Baton Rouge has the lead again in pomology. Here is a ripe peach from the garden of Doctor Day, in Church street, whereon the mellow carnation blends away into the complexion of a yellow-kid. The odor carries incense with it, and we challenge other parishes, Livingston included, to produce a finer specimen in season. Here are fine apples grown by E. J. Bellou in Spanish Town—and as ripe as this fruit generally gets to be. Let people who have an old prejudice that apples will not grow in this climate, come round to our front office and look at them.
