We hear from Temeswar, that 200 Hussars, being the Rear Guard of a Detachment lately sent towards the Frontiers of Walachia, in order to reduce the Rebels and Vagabonds in those Parts, were attack'd in their return home by a Body of 2000 Turks; that the Hussars bravely repuls'd the Infidels in four several Onsets, but being too far behind the rest of the Detachment, and finding themselves over-power'd by the vast Superiority of the Enemy's Numbers, they betook themselves to flight, leaving 50 Men killed on the Spot, and Several Prisoners: After this Action the Turks enter'd Werchnitza, a large Borough in the Bannat of Temeswar, massacred a great Number of the Inhabitants, carried the rest into Slavery, and set Fire to the Town.
