No such draft upon the hard cash resources of the world was ever before made within the same time by this country as has been made the last few weeks to meet an extraordinary emergency in our money centers. Including $15,000,000 which the Bank of France has just arranged to transfer for the purpose of meeting the requirements of New York gold importers, the aggregate engagements of gold for import from April 12 to May 10 mounts up to $62,000,000, a large part having been engaged since the San Francisco disaster.
