NATURAL GAS.—Samuel Stedman, of the vicinity of Frankfort, Ky., has recently been boring for water, at his residence on Elkhorn. On Friday, the 1st ult., having penetrated a distance of 97 feet, nearly all through solid rock, the auger struck a vein of gas, which burst forth to the surface, and fire being applied to it, has continued to burn ever since. Mr. S. has introduced the gas into his residence, where it burns with a clear, brilliant, and steady light. He thinks there is enough gas on the premises to light a large city.—Cincinnati Gazette.
