Full Text

Robbery at the Post Office.

The post office at Wakefield was entered by burglars, Sunday night, and between $40 and $50 in scrip, and postage stamps stolen. The robbers gained entrance by removing the iron grating from the cellar window, and, once in the cellar, it was an easy task to break the panel of a common door and get into the office. On opening the store, yesterday morning, the money drawer was found on the floor, and Mr. Hazard, the postmaster's private drawer was broken into. A feeble attempt had been made to open the safe, but little damage had been done except to deface the door. Mr. Hazard had a large assortment of clothing, dress goods, boots and shoes, etc., but none were taken.
