THE CONTEST FOR COMMANDER.

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Jan. 2.—A special to the Star from Topeka says: A very interesting political contest is now being waged between Hon. Dick Blue, of Pleasanton, and Hon. Ira T. Collins, of Sabatha, for commander of the G.A.R. department of Kansas. Both are well known Grand Army men and have a strong following. Mr. Blue is the original civil service advocate of Kansas, and is a member of the pension committee appointed at the last national encampment. Mr. Collins is prominent in Grand Army circles, and is a member of the board of managers of the state soldiers home. Both will be candidates for congress when the state shall have been redistricted for congressional purposes.
