The farmers of the Weiser and Payette valleys procured large numbers of wild geese eggs last spring, and had them hatched on their farms. The geese grow up quite tame. This market has been supplied with a large number.

We acknowledge a pleasant call from Hon. V. S. Anderson, of Alturas county. He speaks very flatteringly of the future prospects his section, and thinks that will be the leading mining district on the continent in a few years.

FROM T. S. HARRIS, who returned from Atlanta and Rocky Bar last Tuesday evening, we learn the following items:

The Last Chance mine, at Atlanta, is looking a good deal better than ever. It is from one foot to three feet wide. Gold is plainly visible through all the rock. This mine, which was offered for $1,000 a few months ago, could not now be bought for $50,000.

Taylor and Harmen arrived at Rocky Bar Monday and intended to play there the same evening.

B. T. Davis & Co. have a three or four-foot vein in their claim on the Atlanta ledge of rich ruby silver ore and gold. They intend to commence taking out ore in a short time. The indications show that they have an immense body of ore in the mine.

Mr. Franklin has just completed an arastra. It was to have commenced crushing rock from the Norton ledge Tuesday.

Bay Horse district Mr. Franklin thinks will be a good camp. From fifteen to twenty-five men are there and have discovered some good ledges. Lindsey & Jones have a ten-foot ledge, that assays between $500 and $600 per ton. The quartz in this section contains a sufficient amount of galena to make it easy smelting.

Jo? Yes, J. And his name is Jo!

A lady of color, residing on the Payette, recently was intrusted with the keeping, nurturing, fostering, protecting and rearing of an offspring, and having been informed by christian people, that our Saviour was found in a manger, concluded that she would imitate the example by doing likewise. He was found, and immediately he was named Jo. Perhaps after the Mormon Prophet, Jo Smith: perhaps not. But if he had been called Andy J., we should readily have concluded that he was called after Andrew Jackson.

Prof. Bailey, the advance agent and musician for Prof. E. C. Taylor, arrived here Wednesday evening. He is a splendid violinist, and his music alone will be worth the price of admission.

J. R. Pile, who is on the Grand Jury, is clerk of that body, attends closely to his duties as such, and does a typo's work in this office besides.
