Full Text
A Hint to Legislators.—The Legislature of Georgia have adopted a new mode of cheapening legislation, and arresting the long and tedious, not to say expensive, sessions, which may be said to be a characteristic of the legislation of this country.—The pay of members is to be reduced to $4 per day for the first thirty days, and $2 50 for each day they may sit thereafter. The hint is worthy of the consideration of Congress—which is about to enter upon that period of action which is allowed by the constitution, and made by custom, the long session; but we suspect they will scarcely borrow the hint, unless it be enforced by a kick from the people.—Argus.
