NO RELIEF
IN SIGHT
FOR WATER
COMMITTEE
FROM
MONROE
HILL
DISTRICT
GIVEN
BUT
SLIM HOPES AT CITY HALL.

Water kicks are coming so numerous at the city hall that Clerk Garrett B. Hunt of the water office is fairly swamped at times.
When Mr. Hunt has had his say, after hearing the kick, and the party making the protest finds that there is no relief in sight, the next step is to call The Press, the friend of the oppressed and the downtrodden.

A committee of three from the Monroe hill district, appointed at the meeting last week, called on Mayor Pratt and the water department Saturday and suggested that something be done in the matter of turning water into that section from the force main. They received no assurances of relief, their complaints seemed to affect the officials visited but little, and the committee went away no wiser and no nearer its goal than it was when it called.

BLAZING SUN
AND NO WATER

Water failed this morning at 8 o'clock in the lower end of Lidgerwood. Heretofore reports of the water shortage on the north hill have been confined to the district west of Division street. Now the reports show that the old portion of Lidgerwood, which has been within the city for many years, is as short as the Monroe hill district.

E206 Byrne avenue today reported there was no water there from 4 to 9 Saturday night and none Sunday from 4 to 10 p. m. This morning the water failed completely.

E219 Glass avenue reported today that the water failed this morning just after the housewife had finished washing her dishes, and that she could not get enough water to comb her little girl's hair to send her to school. Water has been short in this locality for a week.

E108 Byrne avenue said that they had just finished paying a bill of $19 for water rent and installation, only to find now that they had no water. There was no water this morning for the simplest needs of the household.

Water pressure was very weak this morning in South Side Cable addition.
