Constitutional Whig

Celebration at York Town.—This interesting subject has received quite a new aspect since our last impression was issued. The Executive have had a meeting, and we learn with pleasure, have determined to comply with the universal wish of the people, in making an appropriation, and appointing by request, a distinguished citizen of Norfolk, whose military taste and talents are well known, to model and arrange the celebration in the manner best calculated to give it its highest effect. Since this determination has been made known, the anxiety of the public mind has ceased, confidence is restored, and our fellow-citizens of this and the neighboring towns are vying with each other, which shall distinguish himself by his contributions and exertions in the common cause. The carpenters and upholsterers seem at present the most prominent, and are well entitled to the admiration and praise of all those of their countrymen who feel for the credit and honor of the state on this truly interesting occasion.

But notwithstanding all that the exertion of individuals can effect, even when aided by the judicious direction given to their contributions by the intelligent officers &c. who have proceeded from this and other places to York Town, (and who were to have their first meeting there yesterday,) we apprehend that the best reliance of the numerous groups from every part of the state who propose to assemble there, will be on themselves, and the comforts of accommodation which they carry with them. Let each party take with them a baggage wagon well stored with conveniences for camping out, &c.
