Full Text
As usual, after a Presidential campaign, the papers are filled with columns of reasons for Cleveland's defeat. The reasons are elaborate, studied, and full of dry, logic, and every scribe has a version a little different from all others.
To get right into the core of the causes, without arriving there by a long route of tedious logic-the reason Cleveland was defeated was because he lacked the necessary number of votes. It is the same in a county as in a Presidential election. The defeated candidates and their friends are busy for several days after election figuring out the causes of defeat, and searching around to find from what direction it came.
