Highlighting the three-day convention activities of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women at Newark, N. J., October 9-10-11 is the Awards Luncheon held on the closing day, at which time Miss Roberta Church, Minority Groups Consultant for the U. S. Department of Labor will address approximately 800 delegates and community leaders.
Speaking on the subject "New Horizons for Women," Miss Church is expected to emphasize the role of business and professional women in national and international affairs.
Miss Church is eminently qualified to discuss this subject. She was appointed to her present position in 1953 and deals with policies, programs and standards developed by all Bureaus and Divisions of the Labor Department to stimulate employment on the basis of merit. She serves as Advisor to the Assistant Secretary for Manpower and Employment and as Observer for the Department of Labor meetings of the President's Committee on Government Contracts. She represents the U. S. Department of Labor at Federal Agency and Federal Committee meetings, at conventions, conferences and meetings of national trade and industrial associations, labor and management groups.

Miss Church is the first woman of her race to be elected to the Republican State Executive Committee of Tennessee. She was elected by the voters of Memphis, where she was born, and Shelby County, the 9th Congressional District.
Prior to her appointment to the Labor Department Miss Church was employed in welfare work in Chicago and directed a program for the adoption placement for European children.
She received her B. A. and M. A. degrees from Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill. Additional graduate study was completed at Northwestern and the University of Chicago in vocational guidance, administration of personnel and community organizations.
Also, four national awards will be given at the luncheon for extraordinary Service, Achievement, Community and Youth work. The winner of the National Popularity Contest will be announced and crowned.
