Full Text
Suppose a man of judgment was undetermined which way he would vote. After considerable thought about the matter, he decided to vote for that party having the best platform and presenting the best argument. In arriving at a judgment he listened to the villifications of the democratic 13th General Assembly and the work accomplished by it, by the republicans. He also gave ear to the democracy as it defended the work of the 13th Assembly and in proof of that work being good, was cited to the fact that the republicans had endorsed the work of the Assembly which it was vilifying. Which party under the circumstances do you think his reason, aside from any sympathies he might entertain, would dictate that he should vote with? Don't you think it would be the democratic party? If the acts of one party are sufficiently meritorious to receive the endorsement of the other party, it would seem that the maker of those acts, the democratic party, as a logical deduction, should receive your vote.
