"PEEPING TOM" JAILED FOR 30 DAYS

Attractive Matron Of 515 Fleming Street Testifies Against K. E. Jones

Unable to pay a $50 fine, Kenneth E. Jones of the USS Monterey was sentenced to jail for 30 days on the charge of a Peeping Tom in Municipal court yesterday.

The attractive young woman who had him arrested testified that the accused was peeping in a window of her home at 515 Fleming.

Wanted Her Name

"He was peeking in at the window of my mother's room. She is an invalid and was frightened. I was getting ready for bed in my own room and answered her call for help. I faced him and asked what he wanted. He said he wanted my name. I told him to go away or I would call the police and he answered.

"Go ahead. I'll help you."

The pretty brunette then went out of the house to call for help from a taxi-stand near the house.

The thin, hawk-faced sailor followed her. When he said something improper, she slapped his face and summoned help. A driver and another man stood by until police came.

Jones was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, to wit: a Peeping Tom.

Darragh Johnson, also a navy man, was fined $50 for trespassing on private property at James and Grinnell streets. Charges of a Peeping Tom against him were dismissed for lack of definite evidence. Residents in the area had been on the lookout for a peeper since they had observed a strange

man in the area for the past three night.

Johnson, a chief, claimed that he was merely walking around when arrested.

After leaving the courtroom, he was asked if he had anything to say in clarification. He said brusquely, "No, I've had enough. I'm through."
