ITC Summer School For Pastors In Second Week

Ministers from 15 states and eight denominations have completed the first week of the two week Interdenominational Summer School for Rural and Urban Pastors sponsored by the Interdenominational Theological Center, through its Extension department, and held on the Gammon campus.

Courses have dealt with Christian Belief, Christian Education, Pastoral Administration and Construction and Delivery of Sermons. Instructors have been Dr. Ellis Richards, Reverend T. D. Alexander, Dr. Ralph L. Williamson and Extension Director U. Z. McKinnon.

There has been enthusiastic interest in the cooperative method of solving economic problems as presented by the Reverend James D. Wyker, home for a brief leave from Pakistan, where he is directing a program of village development for the World Council of Churches.

Workshops have been conducted by Dr. M. L. Darnell, Dr. Harry V. Richardson and the Reverend Levi M. Terril. High moments of worship were experienced with President Richardson, The Reverend William H. Borders, Professor J. R. Coan and Dr. George A. Sewell.

An extensive tour of the new site of ITC was taken by the group to see the structure taking shape for one of the pioneering religious training centers in this country.

Next week will bring other Workshops, one on "Adult Work" led by Mrs. Edith Walsh of the Board of Women's Work of the Presbyterian Church, U. S. and one on "Credit Unions" led by the Reverend V. A. Edwards of Tuskegee. Two movies, followed by discussion of "Methods of Group Discussions" will be presented. Worship leaders will include Bishops J. W. E. Bowen, Bishop P. Randolph Shy and Director M. J. Wynn of Gammon.

Dr. Roy Sturm, Director of Research of the Board of Missions of the Methodist Church will continue his training of 14 ministers in the Survey method. These men will be leaders of surveys in their Annual Conferences.

A highlight of next week will be the installation by President Richardson of the officers of a newly formed organization among the Summer School students known as the Minister's Fellowship of ITC" a movement to extend the benefits they are giving to a large number of ministers across the nation.
