Full Text

Bill Jeffries was coming to Union from Columbia last night to attend the Young-Sloan marriage this evening and was driving a fine, new Buick sedan car. About four miles from Pomaria the car struck a rock in the road and skidded a considerable distance; in trying to avoid the ditch, he swerved too far and the car turned over into the ditch. The car instantly flared up and in a few seconds was a mass of flames. The other members of the party who were following him, came up just in time to rescue him from the burning car. He came on to Union and attended the church rehearsal and reception following, and then went to the hospital for medical examination. Mr. Jeffries is out today and is not seriously injured, though full of bruises and cuts. He is originally from Gaffney, but is in Columbia associated with Armour Fertilizer Company.
