LAST Wednesday being the Anniversary Day appointed by the Royal Charter for the Election of Councellors for this Province, the great and General Court met in the Morning at the Court House when the Honourable House of Representatives unanimously made Choice of Roland Cotton, Esq; for their Clerk ; and the Hon. TIMOTHY RUGGLES, for their Speaker, who being presented to the Governor, received his Excellency's Approbation ; After which a Sermon suitable to the Occasion, was preached before the General Court by the Rev. Mr. Abraham Williams of Sandwich, from the following Text,
1 Cor. XII. 25. That there should be no Schism in the Body ; but that the members should have the same care one for another.
In the Afternoon the following Gentlemen were elected Councellors for the Year ensuing, viz.
