NEW HAVEN, April 8.

We hear from many different Parts of this Colony, that a Martial Spirit seems generally to prevail, that Numbers daily come in, and with great Cheerfulness and Alacrity enlist in the Service of their Country, so that there is the most pleasing Probability that the large Aid which the General Assembly (much to their Honour) have voted to the common Cause,—the Cause of his Majesty and the British Interest, the Cause of Religion and Liberty,—the Cause of their Country—will soon be completed without pressing a Man,—which must be very pleasing to his Majesty, and greatly recommend this loyal Colony to his Favour, and to the British Parliament, as well as give Life and Vigour to all engaged in the IMPORTANT EXPEDITION.

And when we consider the remarkable Change in the Ministry providentially brought about in England; and the Zeal, Vigour and Expedition of the Measures now pursued, we have the greatest Reason to hope, with the Blessing of GOD, that our Endeavours will be crown'd with Success, and our Armies return victorious.—Let no Man shun the Service then, that would share the Triumph, or feel the Joy of Peace and all its Blessings.—Let our Hearts be all united as the Heart of one Man, to obey the Call of GOD and our Country.—Let every Man act upon nobler Principles than merely the Hope of his Pay.

The Blood of his Fellow Subjects slaughter'd with every Circumstance of horrid Cruelty, the closest Ties of Nature, the most sacred Rights broken and violated, in a Manner most shocking to Humanity, all call upon him, in Cries that reach to Heaven, to punish the savage Foe, relieve his bleeding Country from Distress: and restore the Blessings of a lasting and honourable Peace.—Let no Man fear to go where Duty calls him.—He who suffers not a Sparrow to fall to the Ground without his Permission—will never suffer a Man to be taken off, to his Disadvantage, in the faithful Discharge of his Duty.

Let not the Fear of Death then, fright a Man from his Country's Service in being a Soldier, nor from doing his Duty as one.
