ALBANY, OCT. 6.-8 A. M.

Messrs. Lewis & Hall--The following is a copy of a letter from the aid of Gen. Widrig, of Herkimer, to Lieut. Col. Myers of that place, now in this city, received this morning, dated,

"Herkimer, Oct 4. 9 A. M.

SIR--An express has this moment arrived from Sackett's Harbor. You are to march with your regiment immediately. The enemy are in sight, and an attack is expected momentarily."

P. S. The rumor here (Albany) is that at the last dates an attack had commenced; and that it was made by land and water. Yours, &c.

FROM ANOTHER CORRESPONDENT.

ALBANY, OCT. 6.-9 A. M.

"I have this moment learnt, from a source which may be depended on, that an express has just arrived from the Harbor, with information that that place was invested by the British, both by water and land; that the militia were called out en masse; and that great fear was entertained for the safety of the place. Such is the information just given to me, by a gentleman in whom I place the most implicit confidence."
