THINGS IN GENERAL

We some time ago published a paragraph which stated that several one hundred dollar notes purporting to be of the Bank of the Valley, Romney Branch, were received by merchants in Baltimore and pronounced to be counterfeit. It gives us pleasure to inform the public, that those notes have since been forwarded to the Cashier of the Bank, who states that they are genuine, and supposes that the suspicion of their being counterfeit, originated in the circumstance of their having been wet in the transmission by mail, which caused them to shrink, and otherwise to injure their appearance.
