Full Text

Beneath the foundation of the most ancient part of the building, which lately occupied the lot upon which the Philadelphia Arcade is now building, were found on Saturday week three glass bottles of a very uncommon shape, in a decomposed state.

The corks, if there were any, were entirely destroyed by time, and their original contents had given place to a solid mass of loam, similar to that with which they were surrounded.

On one of them are these letters and figures, "I. P. 1731."

They appear to have been deposited in an earthen vessel, which was much decayed, part of which has been preserved.

To gratify the curious they have been placed in the Philadelphia Museum.
