Seattle Crowds Day Long Entertainment Into Just a Few Hours.
SEATTLE, NOV. 5. With the party upset by a dispute among the guiding heads of the tour, Queen Marie arrived in Seattle to find the city equally disturbed by the Queen's late arrival and forced crowding of the day-long program into four hours and shortened the reception.
The entertainment went through, however, with Gov. R. H. Hartley and Mayor Bertha K. Landes inaugurating it with a greeting in behalf of the State and city.
Queen Marie caused the late arrival by directing that the train be held for an hour at Longview early yesterday morning while she inspected the lumber mill.
Differences between Samuel Hill and her Majesty's host, Col. John Carroll, who had charge of the tour, and Major Stanley Washburn, the Queen's aide, was patched up before the party reached Seattle. Hill said he upbraided Washburn for failing to arrange a seat for Gov. Walter M. Pierce, of Oregon, in the Queen's automobile in the motor trip from Maryhill to Portland.
