They write from Brussels that the Sieurs Gautier Dagoty, sons of the celebrated Mr. Gautier, inventor of the art of printing and engraving pictures in colours, anatomist and botanist, have begun to exercise their talents in that city by the portrait, and under the inspection, of his Royal Highness Prince Charles, Duke of Lorraine and Bar, Governor General of the Low Countries, etc. This adored Prince, who at the same time both protects and cultivates the arts, has seen come out of the press, in the space of a few minutes, a print forming a coloured picture, with a striking likeness, whereof he expressed his great satisfaction to the young students. By this happy discovery he has brought to perfection the original pictures of great masters; the immortal masterpieces of the pencil will be sheltered from the fury of devastation and fire; they may be multiplied to infinity, by the most faithful and exact copies produced continually, and transmitted to posterity.
