Full Text

The revolutionists of the southern republic appear to derive vigor from disaster. They are very solicitous to obtain officers and artificers from the United States—and hold out very strong incitements by their private letters. Men conversant in the manufacture of arms, the construction of artillery carriages, pontoons; persons who should carry good models for light and heavy field artillery—caissons for light artillery of four wheels; models for cannister and grape shot; and the method of manufacturing stools for shot, portfires, and fuzees, would meet a liberal reception.
