Yesterday, in the Afternoon, Three Sharpers very well drefs'd follow'd a Country-man from Smithfield-Market, to Middle-Row in Holbourn, when one of them dropt a Shilling, and taking it up just by the Country-man, insisted on his taking Part of it: Accordingly they went with him to a Tavern in Red-Lyon-Street, where they found Means to cheat him of between 7 and 8 Pounds at Cards; but the Man, vex'd at the Loss of his Money, sent out for a Constable, on which Two of them ran down Stairs and made their Escape, the Third was secured by the Country-man and the Landlord, and immediately carried before Justice Smith, and by him committed to Newgate.
